Phishing Alert5/07/2008
This afternoon, HEW Federal Credit Union was made aware of an attempt to compromise member information by a "phishing" e-mail using our name and a web site address similar to our Internet Home Banking. The e-mail is fraudulent, and we are currently in the process of tracking down the perpetrator.
HEWFCU will never instruct members to click on a link in order to access accounts. If you ever receive an e-mail requesting you to click on a link to access your account, never proceed. The only way to ever access your HEWFCU account is by first visiting our website then clicking on our Internet Home Branch link; not via e-mail transmission.
HEWFCU is focused on the security of its members, and will take every measure to ensure that your information is safe. For an image of the reported e-mail, click here.
If you have provided information to the perpetrator, please contact us immediately at 1-800-742-5582. To report any incidents of suspected fraud, phishing, pharming or any other illegal online activity to our Security Department, click here. For more information on phishing, click here.
