The HEW Federal Credit Union is based on the philosophy of members pooling their resources to provide funds for loans, thus generating income to provide dividends and financial services to all.
HEWFCU offers a large variety of basic services and loan programs (yes, there are IRAs, Holiday Savings accounts, 2nd mortgages, and so on). Information on these basic services can be found in the Visitor's Center on Union Street. In addition to our basic savings and loan programs, we offer other special services such as those listed below.
Payroll deduction
Request an allotment each payday from your net paycheck for shares, loans, or both. It's the painless way to systematic savings and easy loan repayment.
Direct Deposit
Have your entire net paycheck sent to the Credit Union � no waiting in line, no mail delays, no postage costs and it's safe.
Money Orders
Travelers Express money orders are sold for amounts up to $500. A fee is charged for each money order purchased.
Travelers Cheques
Citicorp travelers cheques are available for a slight fee per each $100 purchased.
Check Cashing
Free check cashing services are provided for members meeting certain criteria; for others, a slight fee is charged.
Notary Public
This service is provided for members only. It is provided free of charge between the hours of 10am and 11am and 2pm and 3pm each business day (except Tuesday) at the main office.
Wire Transfers and Commercial Money Orders
Members may request an immediate transfer of funds from their share or share draft account to any Western Union office in the United States via commercial money order. In addition, members may request an immediate transfer of funds to any financial institution in the United States via Federal Reserve wire.
Express Depository
The Express Depository is located at the entrance to our Main Office. It may be used for deposits during business as well as non-business hours. Deposits are processed the same day if received by 3pm; after 3pm, they are processed the next business day.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Members may sign up for $1000 free Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance at the time they join. Additional coverage for amounts up to $150,000 may be obtained at low "group" rates.
Group Term Insurance
Term life insurance is available at discount "group" rates for members and their families. Coverage is provided through Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company for amounts of $10,000 to $100,000.
Reading Materials
Consumer publications, reference books and cost guides are available for reading in the Credit Union office, and copies of "Everybody's Money" and other materials are available for take out. Also, a newsletter is published and mailed to all members quarterly.
