Membership
Eligibility to join the HEW Federal Credit Union (HEWFCU) is based on a "common bond" field of membership. Employees of groups listed here, as well as members of their families, regardless of residence, may join.
TO BEGIN YOUR MEMBERSHIP, you open a Regular Share Account. This is done by completing a signature card application, paying a one-time entrance fee of $2, and depositing at least $5, which constitutes the purchase of one share in the Credit Union. If you prefer, you may subscribe to the purchase of one share with an initial payment of $5 and monthly installments of $7.50 thereafter. The "par" value of each share for members who are 19 years of age or older is $50.00 and the "par" value of each share for members who are 18 years of age or younger is $5.00.
When you open your new account, you will be given an identification card showing your HEWFCU account number. This card is presented whenever business is transacted at the Credit Union office. All credit union members receive quarterly statements reflecting transactions on their Regular Share Accounts, any loans, club, holiday and other share or certificate accounts. Members with Share Draft or Money Management accounts receive monthly statements. Quarterly newsletters are sent with statements.
ONCE A MEMBER....the membership is yours for lifetime! Regardless of your employment or residence after you become a member, you may retain your HEWFCU membership with all its privileges. Furthermore, members of your family may still be eligible for membership even though you may have moved, retired or secured employment elsewhere.
