MembershipEligibility to join HEW Federal Credit Union (HEWFCU) is based on a "common bond" field of membership. Employees of groups listed here, as well as members of their families, regardless of residence, may join.
By opening a savings account with the low initial deposit of $5.00, you can take advantage of our many products and services.
If you live, work, worship, attend school, or regularly conduct business in the areas below, you are eligible to join HEWFCU:
VIRGINIA - Most areas of the City of Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax Counties MARYLAND - Most areas of Prince George�s and Montgomery Counties WASHINGTON, D.C. - All areas of the City
Acceptable Forms of Identification to Become a Member: The following documents will be acceptable as forms of identification -
- Current Driver's License (photograph required)
- Current Armed Forces Identification (photograph required)
- Valid Passport (photograph required)
- Current Alien Identification (photograph required)
- Matricula Consula
The following documents will be acceptable only as secondary forms of identification -
- Work Identification (expiration date required)
- Current Paystub
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- Government Issued Documentation/Card (i.e. Medicaid card, Eligibility letter.� Must be dated)
Once a Member, Always a Member Regardless of your employment or residence after you become a member, you may retain your HEWFCU membership with all its privileges. Furthermore, members of your family may still be eligible for membership even though you may have moved, retired or secured employment elsewhere.
*Eligible towns in Prince George's County include any location within the Capital Beltway, south of 410 East West Highway or Takoma Park, MD.
How to Become a Member Verify your eligibility by clicking on SEG Groups. Simply open up a Regular Share Account with a $5 deposit. This is done by completing a signature card application. When you open your new account, you will be given an identification card showing your HEWFCU account number. This card is presented whenever business is transacted at the Credit Union branches. All credit union members receive quarterly statements reflecting activity on their Regular Share or Holiday Savings Accounts, loans, or share certificates. Members with Share Draft or Money Management accounts receive monthly statements. HEWFCU's Newsline, our newsletter, is sent to all members quarterly.
