Last Chance!

Please join AAA for an advanced seminar on appraising 19th Century European Bronzes – next Friday and Saturday, October 20 and 21.

ALL ABOUT APPRAISING: BRONZES

19th Century European Bronzes

Friday, October 20, from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and

Saturday, October 21, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Appraisers Association of America in collaboration with Robert Kashey and David Wojciechowski, Directors of Shepherd & Derom Gallery, New York, will offer an extraordinary opportunity to attain a high level of connoisseurship in 19th European bronzes. Our time will be spent at the Modern Art Foundry on Friday afternoon where we will learn about the casting and finishing processes. At Shepherd Gallery on Saturday morning we will focus on the fine points of connoisseurship, including judging quality, as we study and handle bronzes under the tutelage of two important specialists. At Christie’s on Saturday afternoon we will view bronzes in two auction previews and hear from specialists about their current offerings and the current market.

Our small group of members and colleagues will be given special access during the seminar, and gain important hands-on insight. Artists to be discussed will include Barye, Carrier-Belleuse, Mene, Mercie and many others less familiar. A special feature will be a conversation with an important collector of fine 19th century bronzes at the Shepherd & Derom gallery on Saturday. On view in October at the gallery will be an in-depth exhibition on Symbolism.

Appraisers, collectors, and art historians welcome! Please call the Appraisers Association of America at 212.889.5404, x11 for registration and information.
