Leaders from a credit union and a credit union support organization now have opportunities to serve on the board of the credit union movement�s primary charitable organization, the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF).
Two seats now open to nominations are designated for:
an executive officer or director of a credit union;
an executive officer or director of a national organization with significant ownership or membership from credit unions, and a primary purpose of supporting credit unions.

The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) will bestow the Herb Wegner Award for Outstanding Program on the first partnership to place credit union services in a Goodwill store. Prospera Credit Union of Appleton, Wis., will receive the award for its collaboration with Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin to offer �GoodMoney,� a program featuring a not-for-profit alternative to payday lending and check cashing.
It will be the first of three prestigious awards to be celebrated at NCUF�s Herb Wegner Memorial Awards Dinner during CUNA�s Governmental Affairs Conference at the Hilton Washington on Feb. 25, 2007.

The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) has earned a record $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support homeownership counseling for consumers with low incomes.
The $1 million grant for Fiscal Year 2006 is a 43% increase over last year�s grant of $701,383. It�s the fourth straight year NCUF has been approved for a HUD grant.
�This $1 million grant will enable our Foundation to bring a record number of credit unions into the HUD homeownership counseling program,� explained NCUF Director of Program Development Ruth Jaure. �This is a vote of confidence from HUD in our Foundation�s ability to lead this program and in credit unions� ability to provide a full range of counseling to the people who need it most.�
