HEWFCU is looking forward to bringing a full array of financial services and financial education programs to the various communities east of the river and the greater Washington, D.C. area and putting the credit union philosophy of "people helping people" into practice there. In its research of the District of Columbia market in preparation of its NCUA application, HEWFCU found many neighborhoods and their residents were sorely in need of competitive and "member friendly" loans and other financial services. "We are thrilled to be granted the approval to serve all of Washington, D.C.," said Kathleen O. Geary, President of HEWFCU, "and we will look to make a positive influence in the communities we will be serving." Geary went on to say, "Our plans call for us to truly become a part of the communities within Washington, not only with our facilities, but also with our programs, employees, education and community involvement." The Credit Union's mission to "Exceed our members' expectations in our commitment to their financial success' is further testament to its commitment to serve the needs of its vast and expanding membership.
